New Delhi [India]Nov. 15 (ANI): Bringing her greetings on the occasion of Janjatiya Gaurav Divas, President Draupadi Murmu praised members of tribal communities for their contribution to society and said that the way of life of community members is the world lesson in nurturing nature.
“On Janjatiya Gaurav Divas, my greetings to my fellow citizens, especially the brothers and sisters of the tribal society! Tribal communities have enriched the life of the nation with their arts, crafts and hard work. Their way of life offers lessons to the world on how to nurture nature,” a tweet from Rashtrapati Bhavan said on Tuesday.
The birthday occasion of Birsa Munda, the iconic tribal leader who led a rebellion against the British, is celebrated as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas.
She also paid tribute to the country’s tribal freedom fighters and unsung heroes.
“Tribal communities have made great contributions to the struggle for freedom. I bow to all tribal freedom fighters and unsung heroes. The contribution of tribal peoples to the nation’s journey since independence is no less significant. My best wishes for their development and prosperity,” she said.
Birsa Munda, who belonged to the Munda tribe, was born on November 15, 1875.
During British rule in the late 19th century, he led a millenarian tribal Indian religious movement across the tribal belt of modern Bihar and Jharkhand.
Her birthday is celebrated as Birsa Munda Jayanti in the country and coincides with Jharkhand Foundation Day.

President Draupadi Murmu will also pay a two-day visit to Madhya Pradesh starting today.
She will take part as a chief guest in the Tribal Pride Day celebration at Lalpur in Shahdol on the birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda on Tuesday. The President will also occasionally preside over the implementation of the Pesa law in Madhya Pradesh.
She will also lay the foundation stone for two Bhopal projects, virtually, in the evening.
The president will attend the women’s self-help group conference at Motilal Nehru Stadium in Bhopal on November 16.
According to the schedule, the President will arrive at Jabalpur at 11:30 a.m. on November 15 and reach Shahdol at 12:25 p.m.
At 1:45 p.m., the President will participate in the Tribal Pride Day celebration at Lalpur in Shahdol. It will depart from Shahdol at 3:00 p.m., reach Jabalpur at 3:55 p.m. and finally arrive in Bhopal at 5:25 p.m.
President Murmu will virtually lay the foundation stone of the Ratapani, Aubedullaganj-Itarsi (NH-46) dual carriageway project of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and the Maximum Microbial Containment Laboratory (BSL 4) of the Ministry of Defense at the Defense Research and Development Institute, Gwalior of the Raj Bhavan in Bhopal at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
